In a recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, talented Nigerian singer Spyro, also known as Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, candidly shared his journey in the music industry. The artist expressed his initial disappointment when his junior colleagues, Fireboy DML and Oxlade, achieved stardom before him.
Spyro revealed that he had invested in promoting his music on popular platforms like NotJustOk, hoping for a breakthrough. However, when Fireboy and Oxlade gained recognition, he couldn't help but feel a mix of surprise and frustration. Little did he know that this delay in his own success was a valuable lesson from God, teaching him that talent alone isn't the sole determinant of success—it's also about divine grace.
The singer shared, "All those times, God was teaching me that it’s not about my talent but by his grace." Spyro recounted his experiences of supporting Oxlade, even featuring him in his show and collaborating with top artists like Davido and Mayorkun. However, Oxlade's rise to fame happened before Spyro's, leaving him questioning his own journey.
While Spyro admitted that seeing his colleagues succeed before him triggered him, he emphasized that he was genuinely happy for their achievements. He acknowledged that their success served as a reminder that everyone's path is unique and that success comes at different times for each individual. Clink here to watch video
